Score a match
How to use the rain rule (DLS)
When rain stops play, cut the overs. The app works out the new target with DLS.
Who can do this
The person who created the match.
A scorer they invited.
The tournament's co-organisers.
Before you start
The match has an overs limit, like 20 overs.
You are scoring the match live. Rain / DLS is only in the scoring screen's menu.
Only the tournament owner or a manager can change the tournament settings.
The app uses the ICC DLS Standard Edition. It works offline too.
Open Rain / DLS
Tap ⋯ at the top right. Then tap Rain / DLS ("Overs lost or no more play").
Read the top line, like "1st innings · 64/2 after 9.0 of 20 overs".
Tap Overs lost if play starts again. Tap No more play if the innings can't go on.
Rain in the 1st innings
Overs lost: find Overs for Shorisa XI now. Type the overs this team now gets, like 17.
In Overs for Padma Strikers, type the overs the chasing team gets, like 17.
Read the blue preview line. It shows the target.
Tap Apply. You see DLS applied. The score shows "of 17 overs (DLS)".
No more play: type only Overs for Padma Strikers. Then tap End innings (DLS). Tap Start 2nd Innings →. The new target shows: "Target (DLS): … runs in … overs".
Rain in the 2nd innings
Overs lost: in Overs for Padma Strikers now, type the new overs.
Read the preview. For example: "New target 139 in 17 overs — Padma Strikers need 60 from 42 balls."
Tap Apply. The score line shows "Target 139 (DLS) · Par now 51".
No more play: the preview shows the result, like "Par score 51. Shorisa XI win by 11 runs (DLS)."
Tap End match (DLS). Then tap End Match & Enter Result →. The result is filled in. Tap Save & Close Match. See How to end the innings and save the result.
Too few overs played? The preview says "No result: Padma Strikers faced fewer than 5 overs." The result is then "No result".
Undo DLS
Tap ⋯ → Rain / DLS.
Tap Undo DLS for this innings. You see DLS removed.
Tournament settings (organiser)
In the app: open the tournament → Manage tab → SETTINGS → Rain rule (DLS). Then tap Save changes.
G50: 200 (default) for local cricket. 245 for top-level cricket. Or Custom (100 to 400).
Minimum overs for a result: leave it empty for the ICC rule. That is 5 overs up to 20-over matches, else 20.
On the website: see How to create and set up a tournament. Friendly matches always use the default settings.
What fans see
"Target 139 (DLS) · 17 overs" and "DLS par score: 51" on the match page.
In Info: "DLS: 2nd innings 17 overs, target 139".
A result ending with "(DLS)".
What DLS does not do
Penalty runs.
Rain before the first ball of the match. Use ⋯ → Match overs instead.
Matches with no overs limit, and Test matches.
Rain in a Super Over.
Rain at the innings break: start the 2nd innings. Then use Overs lost before the first ball.
Common problems
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| "DLS needs an overs limit. Set the match overs first." | Tap ⋯ → Match overs. Type the overs. |
| Apply is grey | Type fewer overs than now, but more than already bowled. In innings 1, also type the chasing team's overs. |
| The result box is empty when I open the match again | Type the DLS result yourself, ending with "(DLS)". |
| I don't see Rain / DLS | It is in the menu only while you score. Start the innings first. |
